GDI teamed up with TheWrap and the Midlife Collective last week for a poolside celebration of this year’s Emmy-nominated women — Constance Zimmer, Rhea Seehorn, Sepideh Moafi, Dale Dickey, and dozens more, from Julianne Hough to Zoe Lister-Jones, gathered at the Fairmont Century Plaza to mark a season stacked with women leading, writing, and directing some of TV’s best work. It wasn’t a polite cocktail hour, either — Zimmer jumped straight into the rooftop pool to declare that women over 50 are “badass,” which is about as clear a mission statement as this Emmy season needed. Representation on screen starts with who gets to keep working behind it, and this crowd is proof that’s happening.
