Romeo Pérez (he/they/él/elle) is the Senior Project Manager of Research & Insights at the Geena Davis Institute. In their first three years as senior project manager, they have managed over 30 individual projects. They previously worked at the Institute while in their hometowns in Michigan and while studying abroad in Spain and Argentina. Romeo now lives in Eagle Pass, Texas with their two fur-babies, Xochipilli and Coatlicue. Their academic research has focused on representations of queer characters on screen, social perceptions of gay men, Latinx queer identities, and trans-inclusive Spanish linguistics. They also have a strong passion for social activism and presented at the Institute’s Social Justice Teach-In in June 2020. Romeo graduated with High Distinction from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor with a dual degree in Spanish and psychology and minors in LGBTQ & Sexuality Studies and Judaic Studies.
