Lena Schofield (she/her) is a Researcher at the Geena Davis Institute and a qualified Social Worker. Lena completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work Practice with the University of York, specializing in mental health. Her final research project for her Master’s in Social Work was with the Open University. Lena practiced as a community development practitioner, working on projects researching how multiple marginalizations on the basis of sexuality, gender, race and age impact access to dementia services.

Lena’s research has focused on decision making structures which forgo reliance on a traditional hierarchy, within an ecological housing collective. Prior to completing her Master’s, Lena completed a BSc in Social Policy at the London School of Economics. Lena is a committed volunteer and social activist, providing food to members of her community alongside local charities, and setting up an intersectional feminist reading group.
