Albert Cheng is VP, Head of Prime Video U.S. In his role, he leads the Prime Video business holistically across SVOD, TVOD, Prime Video Channels and AVOD in the United States, responsible for the P&L and revenue growth, as well as programming strategy, marketing, brand, research, and distribution. Albert’s U.S. and global teams work relentlessly towards the mission to turn Prime Video into a one-stop entertainment destination for customers offering the world’s largest collection of premium entertainment in a single application; a place where customers can find all of their favorite movies and series under one roof, be it content produced by Amazon MGM Studios or by other studios, third-party channels made accessible as an add-on subscription through Prime Video Channels, or titles to rent or buy via the Prime Video Store.
Cheng joined Amazon in 2015 as Chief Operating Officer at Amazon Studios, where he oversaw the general management of the company alongside Head of Amazon MGM Studios, Jennifer Salke. He held dual roles as Co-Head of TV and COO from 2018-2021.
Prior to Amazon, Cheng spent 15 years as an executive at The Walt Disney Company, most recently as Executive Vice President, Digital Media and Chief Product Officer for Disney/ABC Television Group. During that time, Cheng and his team won four Primetime Emmy Awards, and were the first in history to put TV episodes on iTunes in 2005, first to stream top broadcast shows online in 2006, stream in HD in 2007, first to launch an iPad app in 2010, and first to offer live broadcast network feeds in 2013.
Cheng has also held executive positions at Fox and board roles at BMI and Lifetime and was a strategy consultant with The Boston Consulting Group. Cheng earned a Bachelor’s degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.
