The Geena Davis Institute, in collaboration with Moms First, presents a toolkit for the entertainment industry, designed to translate the insights from our 2024 study, “Rewriting Motherhood: How TV Represents Moms and What We Want To See Next” into actionable strategies, aiming to shift the narrative around motherhood in scripted TV to better reflect the realities and diversity of mothers in the U.S. The recommendations target various aspects of media production, from storytelling to casting, highlighting the need for more authentic, diverse, and inclusive portrayals of motherhood.  By implementing these strategies, the industry can foster a more nuanced understanding of motherhood, challenging stereotypes and contributing to a cultural shift towards greater gender equality and representation in media.
