The all-white slate of actors nominated for Oscars this year is forcing some uncomfortable discussion in Hollywood about racism and diversity. That’s just what this town needs, said a panel of prominent women in the entertainment business. Just as leaked documents from the 2014 hack of Sony Corp. led to an uproar over equal pay for actresses, the controversy over the nominees is shedding light on sexism and racism in movies and TV. Such flare-ups are leading to conversations with studios that are producing results after years of little change in the makeup of casts and crews, said Geena Davis, who won a best supporting actress award for “The Accidental Tourist” in 1989.
