December 7, 2015, marks the 74th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attacks on Oahu. Though the military has since leveled its playing field so that both men and women soldiers now command the same regard, this wasn’t always the case. Decades ago, women were more commonly viewed as bystanders in war stories — never properly given the heroine title that so many deserved.
