Most players want character diversity in video games, according to a new report by the Geena Davis Institute in partnership with Nielsen’s Video Game Tracker. The Ready Players All study found that around two-thirds of U.S. and U.K. gamers said they are more likely to play games featuring diverse and non-stereotypical characters, including women and other underrepresented identities, and nearly half expressed reluctance to play games that rely on gender stereotypes.
The findings highlight a gap between today’s diverse gaming audience and the more limited representation seen in many top titles, offering creators clear direction to build more inclusive gaming experiences.
