10 female directors you need to watch in 2016

There’s hope on the horizon for Hollywood’s gender disparity problem. The statistics are still way out of whack: A 2015 study from the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film at San Diego University showed, for example, that out of the top 700 films released in 2014, only 13% were directed by women. It’s hard to imagine 2015 was much better, and no one’s predicting a big turnaround in the numbers this year.
